CPU power problem?

So, I just bought my first Corsair psu, a CX430M builders series. I didn't find out though, untill recently, that there are 2 different types of CUP power cables. It seems that my mobo is a 4 pin, and my cord is an 8 pin. I have heard that the 8 pins can come apart, but don't see how this one can, since it is one solid block below the contacts, not two separate, and if i just try to use it as is, with part hanging out, it refuses to boot, I was wondering if there is a converter i could buy, or a different cable i could plug into my existing psu, or if i would have to buy a new psu altogether. Thanks
