Thought I would take a moment to post my views and things I have learned with the K65 and its software.
I bought the K65 from Best Buy as that is the only place you can get it from at the moment. I spent maybe a week reading different posts about the failures and software issues. I also watched every review video I could find to try and help me decide whether or not to buy this keyboard. I never really used the Macro buttons on other keyboards and wanted to free some desk space so the K65 seemed like a good choice. Even after reading all of the issues and complaints I decided to take the plunge knowing if I didn't like it I could return it to best buy.
At first the software was very confusing to me. It took awhile to understand how to link the different profiles and modes. I couldn't get the assigned keys to switch the profiles the way I wanted and occasionally the software would go nuts and prevent you from selecting any profile other than default. After about two days and maybe 6 hours I began to understand the profiles and modes. Another hour and I figured out the macros. The Macro program is really really nice. I was able to set up macros for specific profiles only. So I as able to create a profile with modes and macro specific to those profiles. This made playing games so much better for me. I even figured out how to make the macro's light the specific key in a way to remind me that the macro was active.
I am not a computer guy. I was a long time ago but a brain injury has all but wiped that out, so for me to figure out the software means anyone can do it. Its frustrating at first but I was able to figure out just about everything that I had concerns for prior to my purchase. If I can help anyone else just let me know and I will post back here with other "discoverys" as I find them.
My keyboard arrived with no led issues or update/software issues. I am running Windows 7.
