An advance apology for the incoming wall of text, the intent is to detail as much as possible in the hope someone can shed a bit of insight into this.
Installed a H100i to replace the old H100, it was still working, but had issues with the fan control module in the head unit and Link was not giving proper display or readings for it. Double and triple checked everything, and booted the system. 2.4.5110 was still installed, and I used Revo Uninstaller to remove it, deleted the AppData/Corsair folder, and did a cold reboot. Installed 2.4.5110, and rebooted again for good measure. Opened Link, and found no mention whatsoever of the H100i. Link Commander and Cooling Node both present and accounted for, but nothing else.
Troubleshooting so far has consisted of upgrading to the 2.5.5145 beta, again after a complete uninstall and cold reboot between each stage. No H100i to be seen, and no option to upgrade firmware on the devices with the beta. Went back to 2.4.5110, which is where it stands at present. The H100i has been missing from the onset. Swapped Link USB cable at mobo, no change. Swapped Link cable from H100i to Commander, no change. Disconnected Commander from USB and H100i from link cable, hooked H100i to USB. Link shows all and correct information from H100i, no issues. During the next cold boot, I reconnected the H100i to the commander, and the commander to USB. And still no sign of the H100i as far as the commander is concerned. I did note the firmware version of the H100i while it was direct USB, it's at 1.0.5 and I've left it as it is. The commander is at 2.0.6 The cooling node is on the bottom part of my priorities, but I am thinking 1.1.12
Seems to me that the above indicate that both the Commander and Cooling node are working as intended, as is the H100i, at least as far as Link is concerned, however, Link and H100i are simply not seeing each other as a team, or so it appears. I do know from following things here that installing things in order makes a vast difference, and with the system design and OS version in mind, this order may well change. I have attempted to adhere to advice and overall consensus of what may and what may well not work properly. Since Link works with either device alone, but not combined by way of the commander, kinda looks like a software or firmware issue. Or, the other alternative, which is far more likely, a liveware problem, as in operator headspace.
The H100i has improved cooling temps by a good 2 degrees over the H100, and instead of the radiator fans running full tilt, much quieter, so in that, as usual, I am impressed. I just want to get the software playing nicely with the hardware.
Having heard pro and con alike over whether or not to go with the beta, or the last RC under Win7/64bit, and with my obvious lack of troubleshooting skill, I thought I'd drop a wall of text here, and hope for the best
