K70 non-rgb media keys not working on windows 8.1

I have an Asus Maximus VII formula motherboard.



- I don't have keyBot installed

- I do not have any chrome extensions getting in the way.

- My Humain Interface Service is running

- Trying to reinstall firmware doesn't work as I keep getting:

"Cannot open USB device, please plug the device into a USB port or reinstall driver!"



None of my media keys work. It did work when I had windows 7 and a different motherboard/cpu.



After installing a new hard drive, windows 8.1, new motherboard/cpu, etc, the keyboard won't work.



I saw a few threads here, but they haven't been resolved.



anyone have similar issues?
