Hello,
I faced really annoying problem with my new build, let me explain it as best as I can:
I put together this PC 3 weeks ago, Installed windows 8.1, right after installation finished I got blue screen saying "your pc ran into a problem and needs to be restarted". I couldn't read anything else because it restarted rapidly. After that I got back to the windows. Set the user account, installed couple drivers from asus cd which came with MOBO. Then ran windows automatic update and it crashed/lost power (can't tell you what happened).
After this I couldn't get into the OS anymore. It was stuck of "preparing automatic updates" loop. Sometimes it got to the point where I can do system restore/repair. That didn't worked, after some time it said "can't restore" or something like that.
I started trouble shooting -
- Messed around with mobo settings like fast boot, secure boot, memory profiles, frequencies, voltages, what ever I could change there.
- Was able to get to command prompt once, tried to see if messing with a disk going to help.
- Completely wiped SSD on another machine, and put it back to new build:
Now at this point I was able to install windows again and I got the same BSOD, restart, after that I got into the OS, created user name, started to install drivers - after installing video drivers I got BSOD. - *** Now when ever I start the machine, I see windows logo, then its either way restarts after couple seconds or crashes ***.
- I ran memtest86, 22 hours later it passed. No errors at all.
- Returned SSD, HDD's, Mobo, changed PSU to better one. (Only original parts left - CPU and memory)
- CMOS reset was done.
- BIOS Update was done.
- CPU was reseated couple times, Inspected for any damaged pins. (anti-static wrist strap were used all the time I messed around with the actual hardware)
- Tried memory sticks from another PC which I know that is working perfectly. It was 1866, I didn't tried to change the frequency to 1333/1600.
I might be missing something, but I did some troubleshooting on this bad boy, so far nothing helped.
Some of the BSOD's I was able to read:
clock_watchdog_timeout
Can't remember another ones, but there was like 4 different ones. (I'll edit this when ever I'll remember the others.
Build Info:
a10-7850k
ASUS A88X-PRO
Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2x4) - cmz8gx3m2a2133c11r
EVGA NEX650G1 - 650w gold rated PSU
Samsung EVO 850 120 GB SSD
4x WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm 64mb HDD's
Windows 8.1 32/64bit OS.
I am fighting with this thing for 3+ weeks now, please help me with your input on this problem. Maybe someone had similar problem?
Thank you!
