Corsiar HS40 Volume too loud

I got the HS40 yesterday, downloaded the software and installed it. For some reason the volume is way too loud. Even when I turn down all the volume controls to 1% it still hurts to have the headset on. Is there any solution to this and am I just missing a vital step that I skipped? Cheers and thanks.
