750D Case LEDs

Another question about the 750D, where could I buy blue LEDs for the case? I'd think they exist, but I can only seem to find fan LEDs, not separate lights. Help? The closest I have come is this, but I don't know if it would produce the quality (Link)

Open System entry - QuakeCon 800D

System Building Competition - OPEN SYSTEM Category

Build Name: QuakeCon 800D

The inspiration for this build is an annual gaming convention held in Dallas, TX around the July - August timeframe. QuakeCon is North America's largest LAN party, the largest free LAN party in the world, and usually runs over a period of four days.

I decided to show my love for this annual event by using QuakeCon as my central build theme. The colors are black and orange.

Corsair Hardware:

  • Case: Corsair Obsidian 800D

  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1866Mhz DDR3 32GB (8x4GB)

  • SSD1: Corsair Force GT 240GB SATA III

  • SSD2: Corsair Force GT 120GB SATA III

  • PSU: Corsair AX1200 Modular

Equipment Hardware:

  • CPU: Intel i7 3930K

  • Fittings: Bitspower G1/4 Black Compression, 3/8" ID x 5/8" OD

  • Sleeving: MDPC Orange and Black

  • LED Controller: Bitspower X-Station LED Power Hub

I utilized a dual-loop water-cooling setup in a push-pull fan configuration with a quad (4x120mm) radiator at the top and a dual (2x120mm) radiator on the bottom. I modified the top to accommodate the 480 radiator and mounted the bottom 240 radiator on edge with ventilation holes in the side panels. I used a single reservoir mounted in the front 5.25" drive bays with 2 separate reservoir sections in it. The radiator grills are MNPC Tech Pro-Line '360 Degree Rotating' Slotted Radgrills.

The case exterior was powder-coated orange and the interior a flat black.

In this view you can see the vivid orange & black color scheme utilized throughout. All of the 800D LED's were changed to orange.

Angled View

Here you can see the custom illuminated power supply cover with the QuakeCon logo and the custom SLI bridge. You can also see part of the lower radiator assembly through the rad grill.

Left Side View

This side contains the pass-through ventilation for the bottom 2x120mm radiator.

Right Side View

The 5.25" bays contain the fan controller, dual-bay reservoir, and RGB light controller. The lower hot swap drive bays contain the two SSD and two HDD drives.

Submission: The Lightning 350D V2.0

Below is my formal submission for the System Build competition beginning with the two bonus pictures, followed by the four required angles. Corsair parts required for entry are highlighted in bold. I believe this qualifies in the Standard System category as all the parts are retail products with the exception of the painted fan rings and cable sleeving. Otherwise I suppose it can be entered into the open competition.

800x800 resolution pictures are attached below.

System specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor Overclocked to 4.8GHz @ 1.274v

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X60 98.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Power Supply: Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit - OEM (64-bit)

Monitor: QNIX Perfect Pixel QX2710 Matte 60Hz 27.0" Monitor

Speakers: Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Speaker System

Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 Wired Gaming Keyboard

Mouse: Razer Orochi Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse

Misc: Bitspower 120-140mm fan adaptors.

Sleeving: Sleeved all cabling myself with tools and materials from Lutro0-Customs.

Misc: Custom painted yellow fan rings

Significant portion of the build time was related to sleeving and cable management. The back panel cable management of the 350D requires short tight wire runs as there is not much room to work with.

The previous iteration of this build featured AF140mm fans cooling the Kraken radiator which was not optimal and I noticed it impacting performance and the Kraken's ability to adequately cool. As a result, I replaced the 140mm fans with 15mm Bitspower 140mm-120mm fan adaptors and fitted 120mm PWM static pressure fans. The change required that I cut off the locking clip on the 8-pin ESP connector. The connector does not technically lock, but due to the tight bends and cable sewing, the connector will not come out unless I physically remove the entire cable and finagle it out.

My wonderful girlfriend is responsible for the pictures using a Nikon D80.

The Powerful Pretty Pink Processor (aka, "The PPPP")

Project Name: The Powerful Pretty Pink Processor (The PPPP)

Project Name Reasoning:

I’m a creature of habit. My last buildlog, The Big Budget Boomer Box, was lots of fun to do, and rang up a ton of views. So….why not play off that name so that it’s got some immediate name recognition? Right? But same as last time, I’m way to lazy to type out The Powerful Pretty Pink Processor very often….so henceforth, it shall be referred to as….[drumroll].....The PPPP. Powerful? Yes….it will have some first rate components in there. Pretty? Yep. This build is for my [much] better half. And my wife cares more about how it looks….than what type of components are in there. Pink? Yes. Because she wants it that way. Actually….pink and black was her request. Pink and black together could look very sexy if done right. Plus, …. P > B. That’s just science.

Goals:

This machine will be used primarily for placing online Scentsy orders, and browsing Pinterest. I’m not kidding. Ok...maybe a little. But not much. But just because it’s primary purpose doesn’t require a lot of horsepower, doesn’t mean that I’m not going to make sure it would be capable of handling any chore thrown at it. The term “overkill” gets way overused these days. But it definitely describes what I’m going to do here. She doesn’t need a lot of powerful components to follow her Facebook friends. But she’s going to get it anyway. Overkill. And honestly...do you have any proof that she won’t be able to tweet faster with a pair of 780 Ti’s and a 5.0 Ghz processor? I didn’t think so. Again….science.

Updates:

There is nothing worse than a dead and unfinished build thread. We’ve all felt the abandonment and depression this causes at some point in our forum lives. So first and foremost, I promise to finish. I made that promise with The BBBB and I’ll make it again here with The PPPP. The BBBB took about a year and a half to finish….but that build was something special. I’m planning on this build being more like a 3 to 4 month project, because I’ve got plans for another build this summer. I also promise frequent updates, with lots of pictures. Just like The BBBB, The PPPP will be very picture heavy. Lets be honest with each other....I’m already starting to bore you with all of this typing....right? Pictures are what makes us love the build threads, and I promise lots of them. I did a few videos in my last build log, and will probably expand on that concept for this build. So click “subscribe” now. Go on. Do it before you forget. Yes...now. This opening post will be edited as the build progresses with an Index and links to any significant progress updates. I’ll also update the Hardware Status parts list shown below, as I order and acquire the parts, and/or change my mind on what to get.

Build Log Index:

Hardware Status:

This section will be treated a little differently than in my last build log. I’m partnering with several sponsors for this build, and I don’t want to limit myself or them with the direction this build takes. My goal is to make it pretty, pink and powerful. Their goal is to showcase some of their nice components. Let’s just see where it goes, shall we? Instead of listing everything that I think I’ll get in advance, I’ll just show the components off with pictures as they come in. Plus...since this build will be about three orders of magnitude quicker than The BBBB was...I think it’s unnecessary to list off stuff in advance that might change anyway.

  • TBD

  • TBD

What You Can Expect Along the Way:

While I’m not ready to give away all the components yet, I’m more than willing to share some of the things you can expect to see on The PPPP’s journey to completion:

  • Custom Length Wiring

  • Lots of Pink

  • Sleeving

  • Hard Tubing

  • Dramatic Lighting

  • Cable Sewing

  • Custom Powder Coating

  • Perhaps Some Dyeing?

  • Lots of Pink

  • Lots of Black

  • Lots of Nickel

  • Lots of Pink (did I mention that?)

So subscribe now and let me entertain you with lots of computer hardware shots this spring. And some pink.

Corsair Vengeance 2100 Help Requested.

Hi guys,

I just recently got a Corsair Vengeance 2100 Headset. I have some questions about it. In the manual it says by default the headset is placed into "Bypass mode". It says to enable multi-channel audio click the "Bypass" icon. I do not see any "Bypass" icon anywhere in the software control panel. I am new to the whole headset thing. I purchased a gaming headset for the simple fact that I was told that they can give you a real edge in playing FPS due to the fact you can hear footsteps. Therefore, I decided I would give this a try. Is there anything I need to do to configure the headset or is it just plug play? Would I be right to assume that I would probably want to set the EQ to "FPS Gaming" and then in the game set the audio to either 5.1 surround or 7.1 surround? Another thing I have noticed is when I set the headset to source type 5.1 surround both headset looking icon and Dolby Pro Logic IIx are lit. However, when I select 7.1 the Dolby Pro Logic IIx is not lit. Is there a reason for that? Thanks alot for your help. I greatly appreciate it.

M65 wont click

I bought a vengeance m65 about 2 months ago. Everything worked fine until i turned my computer on this morning and i cant click anything. The mouse light turns on, and i can move the cursor, but when i click, the lights flash off for a second(power shut off?) and then it turns back on. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I can't return it.

Also could it be from a static shock because every time i touch something in my house i shock it?

Corsair Force GS 128GB dead in less than a month

Hello everyone.

I purchased a Corsair Force GS 128 GB on 7/3/2014 and started using it as a system disk. I was unimpressed at the rate its performance degraded when it was halfway filled with data and after a few rounds of crystaldiskmark were completed.

Nevertheless, I let it be.

Today, 31/3/2014, 3 1/2 weeks of light use later, the disk died on me. Suddenly, my system froze and after a while I got a blue screen. The SSD was never recognized in the BIOS again, neither in the same nor in another system.

I opened an RMA case (ticket 6447657) and saw that I have to pay for shipping to corsair and I must also pay for tracking and insurance because I will be responsible if anything happens on the way!

To top it all, I am under the weather, with pneumonia at home and cannot go to the post office, so I would have to ask a courier service to pick the ssd up at my place which will bring the postage cost to more than 20 euro (at least).

What is quite a lot compared to the 80 euro it cost me to purchase the ssd in the first place.

I remember when I got my Corsair AX 1200 with coil whine, when corsair picked it up at their expense from my place and offered advanced rma without even asking me for a credit card at the time AND gave me a USB stick for my trouble.

Comparing the two cases, I would have to say that things seem to be going downhill.

I would love to hear what corsair has to say about this, before I decide what to do.

Thanks!

Scratched side panel on Air 540 - no answer on customer portal

Hi!

I created a ticket (6441957 and 6440397) because the white Air 540 i bought had problems with the power switch (once you pressed it, it would stay at bottom position until you pry it back with a screwdriver) and a scratched side panel window. I created a ticket and chatted with the online help guy who said he'd be happy to send me both items. He also created a second ticket because he couldn't send me two items for a single ticket. I received the I/O panel a few days later (swift action, I appreciate it) and expected to receive the side panel shortly after that.

But the 2nd ticket has now been in "approved" state for more than a week and he isn't answering my comments in either of the tickets anymore. He left to celebrate St.Patrick's day and never came back? :D:

I'm just wondering if there has been some hitch or a case of misunderstanding?

H75 issue

So ive rebuilt my system tonight into a new case, a Corsair 300R, and while I was atit I installed a new cooler, a Hydro H75.

Now ive had several corsair cases and coolers before and never had an issue ( 400R + H100, 200R + H50 )

So I start to install my components into the 300R. Remove a HDD tray, snap the handle off I didn't even squeeze it hard, just normal.

Then I put the optical drive in and manage to snap the latch off that you need to flick to unlock and lock the drive So its had to be screwed in. I mean I wasn't rough with these bits they seemed really flimsy.

Rest of the build went ok until I went to install the H75. I prepared the backplate by moving the pins to S1366 positions and proceeded to screw the standoffs in the backplate as per the instructions. Put the cooler head in place and screwed the head down, well i would have done if the pins that the standoffs were attached to didn't rotate in the backplate

Eventually managed to get all but one of the 4 screws tight but one just kept turning and was very loose, as was the backplate.

So it took it all apart again and swapped the screws/standoffs around and this time managed to get it screwed down correctly. I think im going to have a hell of a job removing the backplate if I ever change boards tho. Any chance of you sending me a new backplate and standoffs?

Now its all done im happy with the cooling even if fitting it was a bit of a nightmare and the case is nice if a bit flimsy feeling and the side panels are a PITA to get on correctly.

TX750 V2 Fan Running at 100% From Startup till Shutdown

Hello everyone,

I have bought my TX 750 V2 about 3 years ago in 2011 while I was on a visit to Thailand, I stayed there for a month or so and came back to my computer back home forgetting all about what type of noise my old power supply used to make. Popped in the new TX 750 V2 and started up my computer, thought it was making a louder noise than usual but learned to ignore it over time UNTIL my friend whom I sold my old power supply to came over for a LAN party at my place and started up his computer and I got to listen or tried to listen to my old power supply make any fan noise whatsoever but nothing! My old power supply was quiet as a breeze while my TX 750 V2 always sounded like a small airplane engine idling on the tarmac.

I will try to provide a video detailing my fan noise tomorrow or the day after.

So what can I do?? I live in Egypt, bought the unit from Thailand, am I eligible for an RMA or not?

Corsair AX750 Power supply slowly dying!

Hi,

I bought AX750 power supply in December 2012 and all this time its been fine but suddenly in last 3 weeks or so it started to give me issues.

I noticed a weird problem when I turn off the PC and I can not turn it on normally eg If I press the power button on the case nothing happens (Yes the power is on) because the lights are lit on the motherboard. I tried to start it up by turning it off on from the power supply. Sometimes it turns on sometimes it doesnt. I tried it turning it on and off from the wall, sometimes it starts up and sometimes it doesnt. Thats been happening for 3 weeks.

Also three times my pc turned off while I was using it First I thought It could be an error something. Second time it happened it wouldnt start on, tried everything literally I gave up on it cuz it was night time - thought will try it the next day it worked

Thought I get my friend (works in the IT industry) to have a look - he couldnt find any issues in the computer, so turned it off. Then bam couldnt start it up - took out the RAM, Graphics Card still nothing... tried different power supply it worked fine. ( this was couple of days ago)

So I take it is the power supply.

Computer died on me again tonight and I took the power supply out from the case and did the PSU paper clip test. First test fan wouldnt start up after turning it on and off button several times. Then I tried it again after few mins it worked fine, so thought its not the power supply. Turned it off and on fan wouldnt go hmmm Turned it off on again it worked did it one more time it wouldnt after that it never turned on.

So I take it I will RMA it?

I did bought the power supply in USA but I live in NZ. Does the RMA will work here in Australia/New Zealand? I think they do have an office here in Aus/NZ.

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Drivers wont install on Win8 64 bit

PC Specs listed in profile

Running windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit with all current updates

Downloaded the newest "Win8 Compatible drivers, version 2.0.7" directly from product page and it gets to approximately 80%, then freezes (renders my computer unresponsive) and forces me to restart the system, then tells me the driver installation failed and that it needs to undo the changes made by the installation.

My headset works, like a normal stereo headset / mic... but I am not able to install the software/drivers and therefore not able to enjoy the 7.1 surround experience that was advertised with the product.

Additionally, the cable that came with it stopped charging my headset after only a few months of use.. When I use a different micro USB cable from an old phone it seems to work fine for now, but it is much shorter and I wish the cable that came with it worked properly..

Am I installing the wrong driver version or something? I followed all the instructions regarding uninstalling any previous installation, and attempted to run it in compatability mode.. however I experience the same problem, and never make it to any "restart prompts".

Please advise.

I came close to selling them for $50 on craigslist and purchasing a different brand headset, then discovered these forums.. so I guess this is my final attempt before moving on to something else. Up to this point I have always loved Corsair products (as you can see by my pc specs) but I wish the headset worked as advertised, I was very excited to try em out after using them on my friends pc (with the drivers installed) only to be disappointed.. (He is running windows 7).

Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

RMA'd M65 broke again, will I need to pay for shipping it back again?

My M65 mouse that I had RMA'd last august is broken, again. Previously it was a faulty sensor. This time it's the scroll wheel, scrolling it up does the opposite, it goes down. Pressing the mouse wheel does not work also anymore, so much for "20 million clicks" that was advertised.

I would like to have it replaced but thinking about the shipping cost to send it back again is annoying, it's almost the same as the cost of the mouse.

Does Corsair have a policy for a faulty RMA'd mouse?

K95 LED Bulbs

I've had my Vengeance K95 for about 2 months now and loving it, however, I'm now experiencing the LED burnout issue that, since I've now been reading a lot of posts, is evidently a common issue.

This keyboard was not cheap, and I'm not interested in forking over the ~$30 it will cost to RMA it (not to mention the RMA site has no product group for keyboards). From what I have read, replacements have the same issue anyhow.

So my question is this - does anyone know the specs of the LEDs so I can do a manual replacement? I know this will involve taking apart the keyboard and soldering the new bulbs in, obviously voiding my warranty - I am OK with this, I am positive I'll save money at the end of the day. The size appears to be 3mm, does anyone know the voltage/current they would be?

RMA'd AX650 also has issues. Can't isolate anything other than PSU issue.

Hi guys, I'm asking for help here because I've already tried google and Corsair RMA.

I have an AX650 PSU and started having issues with my PC not powering up when pressing the power button. The power supply 'clicks', all the fans start spinning up and after 0.5 seconds it clicks again and the fans stop. The power button's LED fails to turn on. All the USB power works though (my external spins up). The only way to get the PC on is to try a combination of resetting the CMOS button on the mobo, or switching the power supply off and on, and then it only works randomly after 6 or 7 tries. When it does finally work, the power LED turns on. No problems when the PC is actually on. Everytime I start the PC from a cold boot it has this problem, although randomly, and only when the shut off is clean, it will power up just fine. But not every time!

So I swapped the PSU with an Antec one I had. NO PROBLEMS. Powered on just fine. So I sent in the AX650 for RMA. I got the new unit a few weeks later, wired it up with the new cables and everything. SAME EXACT ISSUE! Swapped it out for the Antec again: NO PROBLEMS!

So my question is: why is the PSU, which is universally praised for it's high quality, failing to work properly in my build. It's a modern build, and there have been overclocks or mods to the BIOS or anything.

Very irritated because I specifically sprung for the AX650 because of it's supposed high quality. It can't be a dud either because I've already RMA'd and the new one failed! There can't be problems with the power switch because the Antec PSU worked flawlessly. If it's the PSU, why isn't it considered bad by anyone? Thank you so much for any help!

Vengeance 2100 defective RMA

So as the title says, I recieved my RMA vengeance 2100 in the mail the other day, and i believe it is defective.

The sound in the right earcup overpowers the sound in the left, making it nearly unbearable to use for anything. The bass and the overall volume is significantly weaker than in the right ear.

Honestly, I can say I'm pretty dissapointed, after waiting 3 weeks for this headset to show up, and now i can't really even use it. Is this a known issue? I know it's not my computer, as I've tried it on both my PCs with the same result.

I guess it's back to my vengeance 1500s. Le sigh.

M90 ScrollWhell

I've got one of the "Two Year" mice, and it's 2 years have been up for Awhile,... I'm pretty sure it's past warranty, (which doesn't sound like it was worth a whole lot to the people that Did use it) and it Probably wouldn't be worth the Shipping cost.

But, does Anybody know of a way to get these Open, without totally destroying them, if I could get to the Contacts cleaning/polishing them might help...

AX 860 "smart?"

Would a Corsair AX860 power supply be smart enough to not turn on if the CPU fan/pump failed!? This is a new build with a Swiftech h220 cooler and the pump doesn't work. When I try to boot the new build with the AX860 the case fans won't even move and no post, it just lets the LED light on the logic board glow -but no more. Swapping the AX860 for a known working PCPowerCooling turbo cool 510 SLI would let my system POST.

The bios comes up with a warning about the CPU fan. Case fans turn on.

Is this new AX860 PSU bad? I've tried it with two different motherboards with the same result.

Thanks!

Corsair V2100 sound is way too loud

Hi guys,

First of all i have to say that i love my new headset! But I have one issue with it.

The sound is way too loud! I can't listen to anything past 6% without hurting my ears...

Also when I set the volume to 0% I can still hear sound perfectly. Right now I have set it to 2% which is ok but I can't adjust the sound to anything else.

I have attached the control Panel settings and the drivers version.

Also the default format under Speakers properties is set to:

16 bit, 48000Hz (DVD Quality).

I'm using a Windows 8.1 laptop.

I have tried on a windows 7 desktop and I have the same issue.

Any idea?

K70 LED issue + broken keycaps

Got a K70 several months back. About 2 or 3 months down the road, 2 LEDs burnt out. Then, recently I finally took out the replacement contoured keycaps out of the box to use, and the A key texture is wobbly and falls off when typing as well as the 1 key for some reason is reversed. Only usable if its upside down which looks bad. Is RMA the only thing I can do? I payed $130 for this keyboard, and now I have to pay another $20-30 just to ship it back? Suggestions please?

Vengeance 2100 will not turn on

Plugged in my 2100 to charge, walked away for a bit...

Came back to headset, tried to turn it on... Solid blue power light for 2-3 seconds, then off; solid charge light for a second, then the charge light starts blinking like normal.

No audio whatsoever.

Thoughts?

So, we all know about modding aio's to our gfx cards but..

please corsair, why cant you make your own brackets to mount hardware to gfx cards?

why am i forced to scour teh interwebs for shady work arounds?

it is no secret that people are modding 50's 60's and 80's to our cards

but i would rather have a corsair product through and through..

just a rant, to expand your excellent products a bit more :D
