Thanks again for participating in our PC Domination GPU Tuning Contest! We received a total of 35 submissions across all 3 GPU Tuning categories with the breakdown as the following:
NVIDIA GPU Tuning (18)
AMD GPU Tuning (9)
Open GPU Tuning (8)
Participants were told to show a screenshot of both 3DMark11 and the most recent 3DMark (Fire Strike Test) so we could compute their scores. We required both screenshots to give our participants two different types of benchmark numbers in order to avoid bias with one software over the other. Between the two scores, we would pick the highest after our calculations.
To calculate the winners and to ensure that entries with different GPU's can compete together, we used HWBot's database of GPU entries with this equation:
Final Score = [(User Submitted Score)/HWBot Score)*100]
This equation is not unique and has been used before in various other contests. By using this calculation, any card can compete and not simply have the user with the latest and greatest to win.
The HWBot score was determined by the criteria of highest score in the database for that specific card for H20/Air (whichever was higher). We didn't want to use LN2 numbers as the cards are not actually in systems (and to avoid high inflation of values). We also ensured that each card had at least 15 submissions for an adequate sample size. If cards didn't have an adequate pool, then the numbers wouldn't be enough of a representation to properly calculate user scores. Two cards didn't meet this prerequisite for 3DMark Fire Strike so we only used 3DMark11 values.
While I included a screenshot of the winners' scores, I have also included the spreadsheet below for verification (and the HWBot values I used to compute the scores). These HWBot values are recent as of today (5/22/2014) and can be found at http://ift.tt/1sYFdIF. Winners will be subject to validation of both results and contain the necessary components to have qualified.
