I picked up an h100i about three weeks ago and first tried it with the stock PWM fans as an intake and then as an exhaust. Both ways my cpu core temp was about 30c. And, it really wasn't too loud unless I set the fans to max speed. I also setup a custom curve fan profile in the Link software and it worked fine.
Next I swapped out the stock fans for Noctua PWM fans. Trying both intake and exhaust, and setting up a custom curve fan profile. It all worked great and the core temp stayed around 30c either way (at idle, up to 50c running Prime 95).
The Noctua fans are great, but I'm really impressed with the AeroCool Dead Silence fans. They do not offer PWM. I called them and they couldn't even say if they have any plans for PWM... ever.
I swapped out the Noctua PWM fans for AeroCool Dead Silence fans and tried them as intake and then exhaust. No difference in temps, still around 30c. And, with the Corsair Link software I still had control over these non PWM fans. I was still able to setup a custom curve that worked just the way the PWM fans worked. All good, but as they advertise, dead silent.
Anybody know of any reason this should not work perfectly? My test sample of one is working nicely. lol
I then added two more AeroCool Dead Silence fans in a push/pull exhaust arrangement and I still idle around 30c... but with Prime 95 going I never get above 45c. And, again, even at max rpms (which my curve is set to for 45c) dead silent.
Have I discovered the best of the best? Or is there some pitfall I'm unaware of?
